Sophos
Principal UX Designer
Boston
I have been a UX Designer for 30 years, serving in various local UX organizations since the mid-1990s. My focus has been on human centered innovation - helping people by listening and learning about them, and then creating better products based on that learning. With a background in both Engineering and Fine Art, I am open to unusual problems and very diverse technologies.

As my career has progressed, I also take great joy in helping other UX people, especially (but not limited) those new to the field. I feel that UX has been a life-saver for me, and I am happy to help others find their way on their own path.

Because of UX, I have learned, in depth, about a great many fields, including medical services, financial services, software engineering, cybersecurity, publishing, consumer electronics, and quite a bit more. I love the chance to learn about new fields, to help create great experiences for users in those fields.

I am also keenly aware of the pressures placed on good UX people - always outnumbered, always expected to create miracles (and sometimes we do!). It is this awareness of those pressures that inspired me to create a talk meant to help maintain sanity, and dare I say, happiness, in an increasingly crazy world.
